Less Footprint, More Health Award

The Less Footprint, More Health Awards correspond to an initiative that seeks to recognize the efforts of health care facilities in Latin America that participate in the Global Green and Healthy Hospitals Network.

Less Footprint, More Health Award - Hospital Clínica Bíblica

Clínica Bíblica Hospital has been recognized by the Green and Healthy Hospitals Network, as part of its efforts to measure its carbon footprint, save energy and reduce its environmental footprint in water. Recently in 2020, a total of 90 health care organizations in 5 Latin American countries (Costa Rica, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Mexico) participated in this recognition, where our Hospital obtained first place in the reduction of its environmental footprint in energy and third place in the reduction of its water footprint, the latter corresponding to a new award category. The awards consider the sustained effort in the last 5 years.

"The implementation of the Carbon Neutrality and energy savings program has allowed us to reduce more than 80 tons of CO2 equivalent in recent years. Specifically, in the last 5 years our renewable energy generation has gone from 32 306 to 149 477 KWH/year, using solar panels for water heating and photovoltaic panels. In addition, our new Santa Ana campus uses 100% LED lighting. In terms of saving drinking water, the Hospital has focused its efforts on its rational use, its quality and also its availability in the event of a disaster, which allows us to comprehensively address the proper use of this important resource. Month by month, we have managed to maintain an approximate saving of 20% of drinking water in our facilities, which reflects these efforts. We would like to thank all our employees, as they are a fundamental part of these programs, especially the Carbon Neutrality, Energy and Water Saving Committees and other bodies such as the footprint managers, Purchasing and Procurement, Facilities and Environmental Management, Maintenance and Cleaning, explained Andrés Alvarado, Quality and Environmental Manager of the Clínica Bíblica Hospital".
